How to create User Groups & Collections
Organize related Lyssn users into groups for your Lyssn program
User Groups and Collections are tools for organizing users in a Lyssn program. Use custom groups to group users by functional hierarchy, and Collections to provide the same functionality within related groups. User Groups and Collections are managed by program administrators and can be utilized across both Quality Improvement (QI) and Learn and Practice platforms.
CREATION
-
To create a user group, you must be signed in as an administrator.
-
Groups can be made at the program or multi-program level.
-
To access the creation prompt, navigate to the groups tab and then click on the
icon.
-
Alternatively, you can jump straight to either Collection or Group creation by selecting the desired tile
-
Once a group or collection is chosen, you can name and describe the group.
-
When creating a single group, you can also select a collection to which it should be assigned (if desired).
-
Once the group or collection is created, you will immediately see group/collection details and be able to edit at will.
- Here is an example of editing capabilities shown in the context of a program administrator
UTILIZATION
-
User Groups and Group Collections are essential tools for user organization. Let’s look at a possible use case:
Example:
My program has several user types. Some of the users can utilize Lyssn’s metrics and analytics for billing purposes, while others are not allowed to. I would like to track both groups in relation to each other.
I’m going to create a Group Collection that organizes groups around the appropriate billing capabilities.
-
Step 1: Create a Collection
-
As an administrator, click on the “Manage Accounts” tile on the landing page
-
-
-
-
-
Navigate to the “Groups” tab
-
Click on “Create Group Collection”, which will prompt a screen for Name and Description entry
-
-
Step 2: Create Two Groups in the Collection
-
Click on the collection in the list on the left-hand side of the page
-
Now that the collection is open on the right side of the page, click the “Edit Collection” drop-down button and select “Create New Group”
-
The screen will prompt you for the Name and Description of the new group. In this example, we’ll use “Billable Group” and skip the description
-
Click “Create”
-
Repeat all of step 2 to create another group called “Non-Billable Group”
-
-
Step 3: Add Users to the Appropriate Groups
-
The 2 groups will now be visible on the right-hand side of the screen, and in the list on the left-hand side of the screen
-
Click on the group in the list view on the left-hand side
-
Now, in the group, we can click on the “Edit Group” drop-down and select “Add Members”
-
Add the appropriate members, and repeat with the second group
